My hero is my Uncle Hector. He is my mom's brother. I call him tio because that means uncle in Spanish, and when he is coming over my mom says 'Tio Hector is coming.'

Tio Hector has dark hair and it's thinning around his forehead. He also has a black beard and mustache. He is tall. Tio Hector is nice because he doesn't get mad. He smiles a lot. He is very funny and tells funny jokes (but my mom says he's corny). Tio Hector has a wife named Lisa and three children. His children are Elisa, Kevin and Lukas. They live in New Jersey.

When my Uncle Hector was little he did not know what kind of job he wanted. So he joined the Navy for four years. During that time he served as the weather man on a ship during the gulf war. I was not born at the time. My mom said he was gone for six months and she missed him and worried about him a lot. Luckily, he came back safe.

When he finished his four years in the Navy he got a job as a night watchman for a bank. He made sure that everything was safe. He made sure all the locks were locked. He made sure that there was no one in the bank. He thought that job was boring. So he took a test to get a job in the government. He passed it and became a clerk in the immigration department.

My uncle took other tests in the government and soon became an agent for the Department of Homeland Security and worked in the Immigration and Customs Enforcement unit also known as ICE. His hard work and determination paid off and he now does something he doesn't think is boring. He thinks it's exciting. I think it is dangerous. He now wears a bullet proof vest, and carries handcuffs, a gun, and a radio. He also drives a specially equipped unmarked car. Like a secret agent! I think he is awesome.

My Uncle goes after all types of bad guys. He catches people in the middle of the night and arrests them if they did something bad. He once caught a man on America's Most Wanted. He catches people who do illegal things like sell drugs. He also goes after bad guys who do bad things to children.

When people are a hero to you, you usually look up to them. My Uncle Hector is a hero because he goes after dangerous people and puts criminals in jail. He does things that I think are brave and courageous and that's why he is my hero.
