This quilt reminds me of my dad’s country, Costa Rica. It is a beautiful place. The water is so clear that you can see the animals that are swimming. The big turtle is my dad and the little ones are my mom, my brothers and myself. I was born in Fort Bragg, but I attended school as a child in México for a little while and then we returned to Fort Bragg. My brother Alejandro was born in Palo Alto, Michoacán in México. My youngest brother was born in the U.S. in San Joaquín County, California. When we got older, our parents took us to Costa Rica for a while and then we went to Mexico to stay with my grandmother Olivia. My brother and I went to school in Mexico. My father had to come to California to work and find a home for us to come to. Now I live in Boonville with my boyfriend and my son.
